Aravind Sai Eye Hospital was started in April 1997 in the annexe of Meenakshi Nursing Home, Pammal. From November 1998, the hospital functioned in a rented building (which contained a spacious Operation Theatre, an Optical Division, an In Patient Room, and Out Patient department etc.) in Krishna Nagar, Pammal. In November 2001, the hospital moved in to its own spacious building of 6000 Sq.ft. at a cost of 1 crore and has now established itself as a pioneer institution in the last Ten years. Since 1997, the hospital has been rendering yeoman services in the field of Ophthalmology and today people from far and near make use of the valuable services, rendered by the institution.
MJF. Ln. Dr. J. Lakshmanan, M.B.B.S, D.O., (DIP. N.B. Ophthal), MCh (Ophthal), PGDHSc (Diabetology), MBA (Health care & Hospital Management), Diploma in Astrology, Hony-FCGP, is the Chairman and Medical Director leading the hospital with a vision for excellence.
MJF. Ln. Shyamala Lakshmanan, B.A., PG.D.H.M., MBA (Health care & Hospital Management), the Managing Director, brings her expertise in hospital administration and management training to ensure smooth operations.
The hospital is staffed with twenty dedicated personnel including refractionists, theater assistants, semi-skilled staff, accountants, receptionists, and medical officers, all working under the leadership of Dr. J. Lakshmanan.
We cater to Pammal, Anakaputhur, Shankar Nagar, Thiruneermalai, Nagalkeni, Chrompet, Pallavaram, Tirisulam, and nearby regions for both outpatient and surgical departments.
The community wing, JVCT, was established in 2002 by Dr. J. Lakshmanan and is recognized by the District Blindness Control Society of Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur districts.
